Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of anise seed
2 packets of dry yeast
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of butter
4 eggs
3 – 4 1/2 cups of flour

Method

Mix 1 1/2 cup of flour, sugar, salt, anise seed and yeast together. Warm the milk, water and butter in a saucepan or the microwave.In a small pan, heat the milk, the water and the butter. Add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture. Add this to the flour mixture and beat it.

Add the remaining flour gradually. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for about ten minutes. Grease a bowl. Put the dough in the bowl, cover and rise until it is twice the original size.

Punch it down. Shape it into “bone shapes” or make bone shapes on top. Rise for approximately sixty minutes.Preheat oven to 350 °F until done. This usually takes about forty minutes.Remove from oven and sprinkle top with powdered sugar and colored sugar.
